Wild Neighbors – American Black Bears

Naturalist and educator Meghan Walla-Murphy, co-founder of the North Bay Bear Collaborative, will present the lives of the American Black Bear (Ursus americanus) and the growing efforts to understand and coexist with them here in the North Bay. The Collaborative’s work includes collecting bear scat for DNA analysis, studying population genetics, and promoting coexistence through education and practical management tools.

Through stories, insights, and a deep respect for the wild, Walla-Murphy will share how black bears are returning to the region and how each of us can take simple steps to coexist peacefully with these powerful and intelligent creatures.

The event venue on the second floor of the House of Happy Walls Museum can be reached by stairway only. For more information about access, call 707-938-5216.
