The Dry Creek Vineyard Story
At Dry Creek Vineyard, our story began with a bold dream when, in the early 1970s, Boston native David Stare didn’t move West seeking gold — he was chasing grapes. With no roadmap to follow, Dave built the first winery in Dry Creek Valley after Prohibition and planted the region’s first Sauvignon Blanc, sparking a revival that shaped the valley’s future.
Now, we invite you to step into our story on an exclusive journey through the vines and visionaries who shaped this estate. Trace the footsteps of founder Dave and the second generation, Kim and Don Wallace, as they carry his pioneering spirit forward with sustainable farming, heritage Zinfandel preservation and Bordeaux-style winemaking.
Explore the vines where remarkable wines begin, then savor them with estate-grown honey and olive oil, and artisanal cheese and charcuterie as you soak in the passion, grit and commitment that have sustained our family-owned winery for over five decades.
This experience celebrates the power of pursuing your dreams, no matter where they lead — and invites you to be inspired to follow your own.
Weather permitting, this experience includes a tour of our estate vineyards via utility-terrain vehicle. The tour may be altered in the event of inclement weather.
