Start your Sonoma adventure in Petaluma, the southernmost city in Sonoma County and gateway to Wine Country. Named the sixth best American town to visit by CNN in 2025, it’s known for its award-winning cuisine, historic downtown, agriculture, maker scene, music scene, and its quirky, hometown-meets-chic vibe.
Located in a 1914 train depot, the Visitor Center is a short walk from Petaluma’s historic downtown shopping district and the Petaluma River. It’s also adjacent to the downtown SMART station and a block from the transit mall on Copeland. Friendly staff will help you find maps, just the right place for lunch or dinner, hidden gems, and more. The center is open weekdays from 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Saturdays from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, and Sundays from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
