Description

This enchanting home away from home is a serene idyll for a relaxing getaway. You’ll feel a thousand miles away in your tasteful, wine country retreat, surrounded by natural beauty. Conveniently located just off Highway 12 halfway between Sonoma and Santa Rosa. Yet Kenwood Village and Glen Ellen, with their charming local markets and excellent restaurants, are just minutes away!

In the heart of the Sonoma wine country, Himmel House is a comfortable and tastefully appointed home at the end of a private drive in Kenwood, California. A tranquil retreat from the clamor and hustle of everyday life, Himmel House is a perfect getaway for one or two couples.

It’s called Himmel, meaning “Sky,” because when you are on the property-relaxing by the pool, sipping wine on the patio, or watching the sunset on the terrace-you feel that the sky is yours alone. There is nothing between you and the clouds and the stars and nothing to obstruct your view from the rolling hillsides dotted with oaks in the distance. At night, only the sound of crickets and frogs and the occasional owl in the distance break the silence.

The house itself is lovely; with abundant natural light, stylish yet relaxed furnishings, original art, and thoughtful amenities to add to your comfort. It has three bedrooms and two baths, plus and additional 1/2 bath in the pump house by the pool, many tasteful updates, modern fixtures and appliances, and a well-equipped kitchen. The great room and it’s French doors lead to multiple outdoor spaces, from the solar heated lap pool and terrace to the garden, to patios and outdoor dining areas, including a covered/heated lanai.

Himmel House feels far away, but it’s easy to get to. If you arrive by HWY 12, there are no rutted, winding roads to navigate or mountain paths. You’re just a mile from Kenwood village and five minutes from the quaint town of Glen Ellen and 15 minutes from either downtown Sonoma or Santa Rosa. All offer excellent restaurants, markets and shopping. Wine enthusiasts and nature lovers will find Himmel House convenient to a 10-mile stretch of wine tasting on Sonoma Highway, and hiking through the Mayacamas Mountains, Sugarloaf Park, Annadel State Park, or Jack London State Historic Park. Oakville, the center of Napa Valley wine region, is just a 15-minute drive over the hill.
