Sonoma County Drink Recipes to Make at Home

While we recently shared a number of great food recipes from Sonoma County chefs, what’s a good homecooked meal without a drink to pair it with? So this week, we’ve tapped Sonoma County wineries and distilleries for their favorite drink recipes. Below, find a few Sonoma County drink recipes you can make at home.

Gary Farrell Vineyards & Winery

In the heart of the beautiful Russian River Valley, Gary Farrell Vineyards & Winery offers a 38-year winemaking history and a unique sense of place. Among the recipes Gary Farrell shared recently is a take on sangria with their Pinot Noir, plus the addition of Sloe Gin from Sonoma County distillery, Spirit Works. See their cocktail demo below.

Griffo Distillery

Griffo Distillery, located in Petaluma, specializes in premium, small batch spirits. Griffo has a lot of great cocktail recipes, but a couple go-to recipes are below. For locals, their Sonoma County spirits (and some mixers, like tonic), are available for pick-up.

Classic Griffo Scott Street Gin and Tonic

• 2 oz of Scott Street Gin
• 4 oz of Tonic
• Lime wedges, to garnish

To make it, add gin to a glass filled with ice. Squeeze in lime wedges to taste, add tonic water, and then stir to combine.

 Thai Coffee Cocktail:

• 1.5 oz. of Griffo Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur
• 1 oz. fresh lime juice
• .5 oz Ginger Syrup
• Soda, to top

To make Griffo’s Thai Coffee, you’ll add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake. Strain over ice in a glass and top with a splash of soda and garnish with a lime wheel.

Korbel Champagne Cellars

Sparkling wine and brunch are a perfect match. And your next brunch at home just got better with this refreshing Lemosa from Korbel Champagne Cellars. To make Korbel’s Lemosa, you’ll need the following ingredients:

• Korbel Champagne
• Lemonade
• Blueberry simple syrup (recipe to follow)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups of blueberries
  • Tsp. of lemon zest

First, for the blueberry simple syrup, you’ll combine one cup sugar and one cup water over medium heat, and stir until sugar has dissolved. Add two cups of blueberries and lemon zest, and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer mixture until blueberries have burst (approximately 5 minutes). Remove from heat, let cool 10 minutes, then strain mixture into a jar.

Now to make the Lemosa, you’ll pour a tablespoon of blueberry syrup into the bottom of champagne flutes, then pour over ¼ cup lemonade. Top off each flute with Korbel Champagne.
