The Germans Upstairs
Two German officers are billeted at the home of a Jewish family on the outskirts of Paris in 1940. One officer is drawn to the woman of the house, and she to him in this moving, star-crossed love story that explores the human struggles in a world at war.
"At the beginning of the German occupation of Paris in 1940, my Jewish grandmother and a German officer who was billeted in her home crossed the boundaries set by the war. I wanted to tell their very human story, set against the inhumanity of war. - Francine Schwartz
