Guide to Guerneville Wineries

Korbel Champagne Cellars in Guerneville, California

Many a traveler has taken the winding, redwood-shaded drive across the scenic Russian River to arrive in downtown Guerneville, California.

Once a sleepy hideaway, Guerneville greets a surge of river vacationers every summer and has become a destination to taste wine, stroll the half-mile stretch of Main Street, and bask in the beautiful nature surrounding this Sonoma Wine Country town, in the Russian River Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA).

Here are some Guerneville wineries and tasting rooms where you can make a reservation or stop by to sip.

Outside of downtown, you’ll find America’s favorite sparkling wine producer. Korbel offers a free walking tour of the winery, including a complimentary Champagne taste. Learn a little about the area’s early days and the Champagne method of winemaking, and finish at the tasting room for sips of sparkly. With a deli onsite and Champagne to purchase by the glass, you’ll want to sip and nibble on the patio under the redwoods.

Porter-Bass Winery

Winery owner Luke Bass greets guests to his boutique winery with gorgeous views, chickens, and a coonhound dog. Porter-Bass premium wines are featured in fine restaurants, but you can only buy these acclaimed wines right here in Guerneville. Come for a tasting beneath a walnut tree on a gentle slope. The rustic tasting bar is a slab of wood across two barrels in view of the breathtaking vineyards and forest.

More Things To Do

After wine tasting in Guerneville, peruse the eclectic mix of shops or get comfortable at area restaurants like the contemporary bistro boon eat + drink for a delicious farm-to-table meal.

Don’t miss Piknik Town Market on Main Street, a foodie-friendly hub where you’ll find a gourmet store, a tasty menu for every meal, delectable “lunch bags” to carry out, as well as a rotating selection of unique local wines. Pick up some wine to bring home and savor outdoors.

To enjoy the great outdoors, you won’t have to go far. Pick out a chilled bottle to tuck in your knapsack and walk through the redwoods in the 805-acre Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Or bring your snacks to enjoy on a river beach while watching canoes glide by.
