Poetry is back for the next Books on Stage event, featuring Katherine Hastings on September 29, 2016 at 7 p.m. Katherine will read from her latest work, Shakespeare & Stein Walk Into a Bar, and will converse with Books on Stage co-host, Lisa Michaels, about the place of poetry in today’s world and why it’s important for all of us. After the presentation, there will be a literary salon (just 3 doors down the street) with wine and cheese and conversation with the author at Plank, 227 N. Cloverdale Boulevard. Katherine Hastings is the author of three full-length collections of poetry -Shakespeare & Stein Walk Into a Bar (2016); Nighthawks (2014); and Cloud Fire (2012), as well as several chapbooks. She is the poet laureate emerita of Sonoma County, and her work has appeared in many journals and anthologies as well as The Book of Forms—A Handbook of Poetics. Hastings is the editor of Digging Our Poetic Roots—Poems from Sonoma County, and What Redwoods Know—Poems from California State Parks, published as a fundraiser for the California State Parks Foundation when 70 parks were faced with permanent closure. She hosts WordTemple on NPR-affiliate KRCB FM and curates the WordTemple Poetry Series in Sonoma County. For more information go to www.wordtemple.com.
